  1. wrt USA Alaska canada sarcasm aspect; still not the same. The "Volks"deutschen in the Corridor, Dantzig, Sudeten and what all not..ARE and WERE original Germans from the 2nd Reich. Nazi Germany wanted them to GET BACK into a WHOLE Reich.The 3rd Reich. Between Alaska and Washington state..there are and were never Americans..(let alone marking Alaskan inuits?' as Americans...). This aspect ..this DRIVE to get BACK the original people into the ORIGINAL greatness of an Empire (be it german, be it Austrian, be it ..keeping Great Britain together against Scottish <and North Irish> separatism(!) ) is something the anglo historians never seem to be able to understand... While you see it in many, many more examples; the Turks under Erdogan?> go for Ottoman erstwhile empire. Russia under Putin ? > do not give in into east Ukraine separation and the Crimea. But all the anglo historians always think that if there is a "treaty" ( which Germany of course did not desire in that form, but was evidently forced upon). there are borders imposed...then ..the new people "simply" HAVE to accept it..and shut up..and pay off impossible debts... Because..hey...diplomats know better than the local people how borders should run..(Yugoslavia..Middle East..ahum).

  3. and what to think about the fanatical drive during the US civil war to KEEP the US WHOLE ? Why not let the poorer and backwards Southern states split off and go their own way ? MORE than the "liberating of slaves", the drive was to KEEP THE HOUSE UNITED. This is the same emotional-economic-identity drive of Lincoln, as did Hitler (and the majority of the Germans..Nazi or not..).
