  2. Arnim is a geographical place;Arnim, Stendal, Germany (might even go as far as a conversion of Arnhem, Arnhim, etc..). VON Arnim means some sort of nobility family claiming that area. ArMin is simply a misspelling. (perhaps the misspelling happened in Napoleon times, and got mainstream/accepted since then..there are more Napoleontic namespelling change examples...).
