I am not simply accepting defeat, but I am coming up on 60 years old, so not going to make a fortress of my home and learn apocalypse survival skills. The only ones that will be able to do this truly successfully, at least for some time, is those in very rural areas. Should society completely collapse, and that is a very real possibility at this point, the mobs we have seen since GF killed himself, will be turning on everyone and will not stop at property. They WILL invade homes and take people out, except... they will ALL be thinking about themselves. They will not be a mob of single minded drones just destroying all in sight, they WILL turn on each other, when a prized resource is found. This will lead to catastrophic chaos and feds / states will send in the troopers. They will simply go full Marshal Law, after concussion grenades are tossed by the thousands. People in city homes, I am in a town of 50K, will be huddled inside hording food, because everything will stop. . This is a EXTREMELY dark vision, but the ones who will be able to do the best, will be families that band together. They will live on a plot of land and compile resources to survive. For me... no thanks! Take me out on the first volley!
