  4.  @NateWhitehorse  Yeah I know the Americans don't like being under UN command and with all right. Yeah that switch was pretty crazy, our SOP changed over night and instead of taking the shit we could deliver some and that finally got the Serbs in line. I was at the TAB ( Tuzla Air Base ) in 1995 pre US troops when we got 25.000 women and children from Srebrenica, if you recall that town where the Serbs massacred all men and boys from 14-15 yrs of age. Later when I was at the Bde HQ I went with the SMO to Srebrenica when they dug up those massgravs and that was by far my worst experience, even worse then being shelled by mortars and hit by T-55 shells from mountain ( Vis ) outside Tuzla. Yeah I don't mind the bodies of their fallen soldiers but the women and children and their suffering pisses me off.

  5.  @NateWhitehorse  You know what, there is one thing basically every country share and that is the same weaklings called politicians. As a Swede ( my first 7 yrs I was in the Swedish Marines ) I must however say that the government we have now is doing a descent job after decades of bad politicians messing up the country. What you American vets are doing pretty good is actually getting involved in politics. You have a huge veteran base that actually can be a powerhouse in politics but sadly your two party system is so out of date that it's not even funny. So thank you for being a vet with open eyes that see things for what they are, it's not patriotic to defend stupidity and immorality, it's patriotic to stand up for what is right and not defend what is wrong. I have a close attachement to America in many ways and my ex is Texan so I spent a lot of time in the US as well as keep myself daily updated. I surely hope you not get Voldemort back in the WH. Semper Fi brother!

  6.  @NateWhitehorse  I started out 1994-95 as UN then in late 95 we changed our beret and painted our vehicles green in a day. So ended as part of NATO. Spent the last two years in the Brigade HQ in Doboj.

  7. Germany has asked to be under French and British nuclear umbrella but so far no official statement from either France or UK. But in 1997 France offered Germany to come under their nuclear umbrella, negotiations started the document mostly outlines a closer "joint defense policy" that would move France away from the military isolationism promoted during the 1959-69 presidency of Charles de Gaulle. So no, so far nothing is a done deal regarding that but I think it's likely to change with the stance America have or more correctly the way they talk and with the Orange Jesus and his Maga cult is spreading in the US.

  8.  @GenghisVern  Yeah fair enough, you got a point regarding drone operators. As for French military ( I served in the French Foreign Legion for 5 years 1988-1993 ) they will never go under Ukrainian command and structure. What Macron mainly have said is that NATO soldiers and French soldiers should not be foreign for the idea of going to Ukraine. What he want not only the French people to understand is that NATO soldiers might sooner or later be forced to take action with boots on the ground.

  14. Expand, well it's not closed it's just restrictions. They do not want Xbox warriors but soldiers with military experience and that is why they don't take in anyone.

  15.  @GenghisVern  I doubt a brigade is on its way to Ukraine, maybe Poland, Romania or something like that. I'm very confident in that France wouldn't be under Ukrainian command, of course they would work together from unit to staff/ command. In the end of course they will be a part of the big picture but France will not let Ukrainian command toss around French troop, I can almost assure you of that. For example, take the Balkan war/ Bosnia. The Americans refused being under UN command or any other command then their own. France withdrew from/ left NATO because of command structure. French are very proud people and they got a huge amount of unfair crap and especially their military. Bosnia under UN was a shitshow I was there 94-97 so both under UN and NATO command and UN command almost got me and my platoon killed a few times. Just as a little historical fact, France is the country that has won most battles in the world, their military is top notch. As I mentioned I served in the Legion but it was/ is still a part of the French Army. After the Legion I returned and went back to the military in my country and in deployments to Africa, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo ( to mention a few ) I worked alongside French military and they are as good as any other top NATO country.

  16. You know Germany is very complex. East Germany was under Soviet regime and there is at least 2 generations still alive that lived under the Soviet control. Germany is known( in Europe ) for its tight ties with Russia and also Russia has groomed Germany and German politicians since they got kicked out when the wall fell. On top, Germany was among the biggest business for Russia for decades and is littered with Russians. That for sure plays a huge part of why Germany is a political cesspool.
