The world hasn't changed. Your now just realizing they actually do make a lot of sense with valid points of view, most of the time. Pauline's biggest problem was she wasn't able to articulate her point of view very well in the early days, as most of us wouldn't not being seasoned speakers. She has improved out of sight over the years in this regard (still a bit too emotional in style). The standout is Mark Latham. Obviously always a smart man, just need age to temper his aggression.

Tony was one of the early casualties of the Cancel Culture. He held a different opinion on subjects like SSM, so had to be destroyed by the left.

Reality Cheque With 5G the NBN is going to be the biggest 'white elephant' every thought up and a waste of 90 Billion Dollars. And what Rupert Murdoch has to do with the NBN is totally lost on me. Have you considered you may have always been wrong about Tony? You really 'hated' someone just because they may have had a different opinion on matters to yourself? That's not very healthy.

@simplesimon182 And the real irony is that setting a plebiscite in place to resolve the matter of Same Sex Marriage Tony Abbott actually advanced the cause of gay rights by years. Had the Government of the day just legislated on the matter as gay rights activists were demanding, a significant percentage of the population would have resented this and felt that decision was being forced upon them. By allowing a plebiscite to take place virtually all fair minded people accepted that even if they don't agree with the outcome and had voted against it, this was the will of the majority and gracefully accepted the result never to speak of it again. Tony via his plebiscite on same sex marriage advance the gay rights cause in Australia more than anyone I can possibly name. P.S. This reply should have been in the criticism of Tony getting the UK Trade job. Got a bit confused which criticisms of Tony was taking place.

If these is one positive out of the Covid-19 issue, its that its at least temporarily consigned 'climate change alarmism' to the back burner. But just like the end of a bad horror movie, no matter how many stakes have been driven into the climate change heart, the hand will slowly arise out of the ground again......

As expected the local clown at the ABC Micheal Rowland immediately latched on to what are quite valid issues raised by Tony Abbott, completely misrepresented them. The same thing happened on Monday nights Q&A when the bitter and well past it Kerry O'Brian slagged of Andrew Bolt by COMPLETELY misrepresenting his view on the matter. Andrew has repeatedly stated the focus needs to be on protecting the elderly, and allowing the remainder of society to function. Just what 'protecting the elderly' should comprise is a complex question of itself. I doubt many want to be locked away in isolation, and are happy to take their chances with the virus and keep in contact with loved ones and others in society in the last stages of their life. I know I would.

You must explain this fascination you have (like a small number of others) with Rupert Murdoch. Hardly even hear from the bloke these days, other than those on social media giving him some apparently some global authority. FFS, how many people these days read news papers or watch main stream TV? Not enough IMO, that's half the problem causing the world to become as dumb as it is.

@yeahright3348 I find Sky News and The Australian to be the most informative and balanced news media in Australia. Yes, Sky News prime time nightly presenters are all right wing leaning, but all the morning crew are left wing orientated. FFS, David Spears who was Sky News main presenter for years is about as left wing as you get short of a total ABC nut job like Ellen Fanning. The ABC on the other hand now just turns out left wing propaganda dribble.

@yeahright3348 I don't mind Fox News. If I want to get a balanced perspective of US politics that's ONE of the places I'll look. Certainly not going to get it from the ABC, CNN, Washington Post, New York Times etc.... And yes Sky News does lean to the right, just as every other media outlet in Australia leans to the left. Agree that 'balance' is important. But I think you're mistaken believing that just a depth of ownership is going to provide that. Australia has 5? free to air TV stations, all of them left of Carl Marx. The ABC is supposed to be 'balanced'. It is anything but. More women isn't going to give balance, more people of a non European background isn't going to give balance. What will give balance is a return to old fashioned journalism where balanced facts from both sides are presented rather then cherry picked political activism presented as 'news'. Once opinion in a newspaper used to be clearly labelled on the 'Editorial Page'. Now that's virtually all MSM presents. Political activism masquerading as news. More of the same isn't going to give 'balance'. I'm not quite sure I agree that Australia is a 'centrist' society. That's just the relatively narrow middle where both sides of politics focus in order to win government. My now conservative view of the world is poles apart from the idealistic black/white view of my own kids. They just haven't yet realized they will also most likely be a conservative when they get to my age when they recognize there is little black/white in the world is mostly 'greys', or if not they were probably a failure in life.

@yeahright3348 One point I forget to mention, where is the best source of facts likely to be found these days in relation to a controversial subject e.g. climate change? Rarely in the MSM. It'll be on some blog. Yes, there are nonsense blogs, but there are also many that are very well researched and factual. Who is trying constantly trying to shut down these sources of independent information?? Exactly, the MSM especially the left leaning who characteristic all of them as fake news sites. I'll go so far as to say these days the MSM is the enemy of democracy. They long ago stopped reporting on events, now they drive and manipulate events.
