Aboriginal people have every right to form a recognised organisation to advocate on their behalf to government. Elect its leadership, fund itself. Just like the Mining Industry, the Farmers Federation, or Business Council. Go for it guys. With the current ego conflicts I reckon they couldn't organise a 'piss up in a brewery'. Oh, that's right, like just about everything else, you want the government to do it for you, right!

The referendum was the CRITICAL aspect of their demand. It basically made the unelected activist a permanent 'House of Lords' third chamber of Parliament (about the only thing Turnbull ever got right) with the power and finances to change, stop, permanently block virtually an decision of government they decided upon. A legislated voice, one they could be dismissed by Parliament once this nonsense started wasn't even in the same ballpark.
