@mattcrisanti1121 Correct. Around 500,000 people (as many as 650,000) people die globally each and every year from Influenza and its complications. And 30+ years of endless research into the subject had concluded that surgical masks were NOT an effective public health response to that virus.

@ginoriccardofiglio2384 Face mask have been mandatory for quite some time in many European countries e.g. France. Doesn't seem to be working very well. Compare the results between US states, many with mandatory mask wearing, many not. You won't see ANY identifiable difference. About the only real standout you'll will see are states like New York and New Jersey (run be Democrats) which have had the strictest 'pubic health' response in the US, and the most politicized mask wearing response .... and they have 3 times the death rate per head compared to the worst countries in the world.

No one has died in Australia for "quite some time" from covid, to quote the Chief Medical Officer, and there is currently only 22 people in hospital and no one in intensive care for the WHOLE of Australia. And people are currently pushing the mandatory wearing of masks. Message to the Labor Opposition Leader in NSW .... you will NEVER be Premier.
