Electric cars in Australia have zero environmental benefit. In fact I've seen analysis that they actually have a higher carbon footprint than a petrol powered vehicle till around 60,000 kilometres due to the manufacture of the battery. And most people who own an electric vehicle do not put large mileage on it, often only using it as a local runaround. Charged with electricity produced by fossil fuels ...... as I say zero environmental benefit. So absolutely no reason the government should interfere in the market, just for a pointless exercise to make 'woke' people feel that are doing something for the environment, which is just a false illusion.
