Good point. Imagine just how many good things could have been achieved with the BILLIONS that have been wasted for no real benefit (it served no purpose for people to have been thrown out of work, none).

You really think there is such a thing as a 'normal life' or a 'normal person'? Do you ever argue quietly with yourself? What's the difference between that and the person doing it openly other than they have a little less self control? Everyone is mad, just the degree of madness varies.

So are you saying the mentally ill aren't genuine and aren't worth of help? We smash the economy of the whole country to look after the health of a relatively small number of people in the last stages of their life. But the mentally unwell, its just tough luck. Actually mental illness and its associated substance abuse will be the reason for the VAST majority of homeless cases. Spend some time in the mental health 'system' and you'll no longer see that disheveled person sleeping in the park as just a bum. I'll be someones farther, brother, a real person.

@andrewcastle4359 No problem. Good explanation of your thoughts. It's a subject close to my heart (reason I won't go into). For those who think mental illness or substance abuse (usually go hand in glove) is something that only affects the deserving or weak, consider this .... when you see someone usually on public transport sitting alone and arguing out aloud with themselves ,do you like most people think 'what a nut job'. Now ask yourself, do you ever mentally argue with yourself, just not out aloud being the only difference? You are just as mad for arguing with yourself, the 'nut job' just has less self-control or awareness of his habit of talking as he does it. We are all to some degree 'mad', only the degree varies and its a rather thin line between being 'normal' (what is 'normal'?) and 'dysfunctional'.
