No proof needed. Ten seconds of inquire will find the source of that number, which is a story in The Guardian (bastion of truth, not) reporting the number of migrant works in all occupations who have died working in Qatar over the past 10? years. It's a report on the working conditions for migrant workers, nothing to do with World Cup stadium construction.

@stephenpage-murray7226 So you are saying Australia should boycott the World Cup for no reason. Suppose it makes sense, to someone.

What we must have, is the ability to think and question. This story is just a great pile of BS. The 'official' number of deaths in the stadium construction is 37 people. Still 37 (or even if the real number is a couple hundred) too many, but even an ounce of common sense would indicate a claim of 6,500 is just ridiculous.

Paul, your credibility just continues to slip. 6,500 migrant works did NOT die building the stadiums. An ounce of common sense would indicate it near impossible for 6,500 people to have died on just the stadium constructions. The official figure is 37. Not saying that is the absolutely correct number or otherwise but its likely to be WAY closer to the truth than 6,500. That 6,500 number is the number of migrant workers who 'The Guardian' reported having died in Qatar over the past 8 years working in ALL occupations, including those working on building sites in no way connected to the World cup.

So you only agree with Paul when he's peddling 'fake news'. 6,500 people did NOT die in the construction of the World Cup stadiums. The official figure, for what its worth, is 37 deaths.

@stephenpage-murray7226 Thanks for confirming you can't name a reason. You just think it should be boycotted because 'Paul said so'.

@stephenpage-murray7226 Well if you do have a "superior brain and education" you certainly hide it well.

Go to any developing Asian country and observe the living and working condition of the vast army of cheap migrant labor that underpins the country. There is nothing unique about Qatar. Even in Singapore, migrant construction works are housed in conditions that would cop criticism if animals were kept in such crowded condition on a farm in Australia.
