For F sake, don't these so called news readers have ANY education. Approximately half of anything you calculate an "average' for (which is really the 'mean') will likely have about half of the events ABOVE the average, and half will be below the average. Of cause the world has been warming since the end of the 300 year long period known as the Little Ice Age which ended around the late 1800's i.e. the 140 year record history. NO ONE disputes that. It's only what are the major drivers of that temperature fluctuation that are questioned. And that can't be CO2 levels alone as they didn't even start to significantly increase till the 1970's (100 years after the planet started warming).

Not even in Birdsville or Wilcania. The publicly available historic temperature records on the BOM webpage don't go back far enough for these towns (strangely enough). But they do for Bourke. To me 'out the back of Bourke' is a pretty good place to assess the long term temperature record of Australia's inland. The majority of the hottest November days on record for Bourke were in the 1880's, 1890's, and then the 1930's. No doubt some climate extremist will want to point out the 1800 temperatures must be disregarded because they were before the universal adoption of Stevenson Screens. But that doesn't hold for the early 1900 high temperatures.
