There is a good reason why the emphasis of 'climate change' has now shifted to a nearly 100% focus on "extreme weather events". Predictions of polar bears going extinct, cities become uninhabitable due to rising seas, dams never filling again, etc, etc have clearly not materialised. But if the focus is on "extreme weather events" these things are sure to manifest themselves, as regular as clockwork, just like they have for thousands of years.

@anthonymorris5084 Judith Curry has written extensively on the subject of the politicization of 'climate science', the team leaders in the IPCC process only allowing their view to be heard, dissenters being driven out, etc, etc. And Judith is commenting for first hand experience as she was heavily involved in preparing the early IPCC reports till she become totally disillusion with the process.

They qualify as "extreme weather events", now the favourite of the climate change cult. You can 100% guarantee 'extreme weather events' will occur, whereas rising oceans making cities uninhabitable is just a bit harder to sell.

@AdvocatusDiaboliFin Mostly the media, or 'scientists' seeking publicity more than the truth. For a young scientist or academic wanting to get noticed from the pack requires them to make ever more outrageous claims in order to grab peoples attention. A good example is 'pacific islands drowning'. Right from the very first IPCC report the official position has been not a problem for coral atolls as long as the sea level rise is less than the growth rate of corals. It is no where near it. But to the media, pacific islands are drowning everyday (send more money).

@ianenglish123 Yep, your right that INCREASED "Extreme weather events were always part of the prediction". But just like every other 'prediction' they have failed to materialise. So rather than the typical troll response I expect, try provided a credible and independent scientific study saying otherwise. P.S. Global crop yields have never been higher, as the earth becomes more 'green'.

@rattusfinkus Why do I have to explain anything to you? It's you who seem unable to read. If you're going to do your usual trolling at least spend the effort to understand what someone wrote.

@ianenglish123 So what BS story are you trying to spin. That Europe hasn't had droughts before? The worst recorded drought in European history was in 1500 something. Floods in Lismore?? Well who would have ever thought that possible. The whole F'ing old town is built on a flood plain. The hockey fields below Lismore Square are built the remains of a swamp. You could hardly give houses away in lower part of Lismore when I lived there for several years because EVERYONE knows how flood prone the whole area is.
