  1. Fake News alert. The story teller just forgot to mention that all the tax rate increase is doing is removing the lower tax rate advantage casinos have on poker machines compared to licenced clubs. The increase for casinos will mean they will now start paying the same rate of tax as clubs pay. So rather than a 'gift' to "lower socio and economic communities" its just squaring up a penalty the battlers have been paying via their clubs for years.

  2. Multinationals will NEVER pay the same company tax rate as an Australian public company. It's just a fact of life. There are simply to many quite legal ways to transfer profit out of Australia. Having worked for multinationals, most do not funnel their profits into tax havens to avoid tax as is commonly believed. The usual practice is if tax is to be paid, that want it paid in the county of origin of the multinational. Makes perfect sense, that's where the senior managers of the company live and want any tax to be paid to be to their government.
