Sharri, if you knew anything about covid and the Delta variant it would be painfully obvious that even a fully vaccinated taxi driver wearing an ineffective surgical mask, confined for a period of time with two or three covid infected overseas flight crew in a couple meter square space with no fresh air inside a car would be a near certainty to pick up the virus. Whether the taxi driver was vaccinated or not would likely have made ZERO difference.

  2.  @XxMiniHitlerXx  I think Sharri, most of the media, public health bureaucrats, and politicians DO now understand that being vaccinated doesn't stop someone catching covid, and transmitting the virus. However they need to keep up the pretense that it is a 'magic bullet' to completely eliminate transmission otherwise the logic of mass vaccination falls apart. What other reason is there to vaccinate perfectly health young people at next to zero risk from covid, other than to supposedly "protect other people".

  3. There is NO shortage of vaccine in Australia to deal with covid. There is currently more than enough to vaccinate those who actually need to be vaccinated, the high risk groups e.g. over 60 years olds, with Pfizer. That could be done with a matter of weeks if the appropriate priority and resources were applied.

  4. Shari, its actually obscene that Australia would want the excess vaccine in America to just waste 99% of it sticking it into perfectly health young people. If we had a ounce of morality as a nation we'd be insisting it be send to vaccinate high risk people in 3rd world countries.

  5. Nothing to do with the Delta variant. Gladys is on the public record from the first national lockdown in early 2020 saying 'NSW will remain in lock-down till a vaccine is rolled out'. Obviously that was a completely stupid statement at the time, but it reflects her beliefs. This current Delta outbreak has just been the opportunity she has been waiting for.
