  1. Good point. In one breath he was calling for increased police presence to reestablish basic law and order, the next breath he supports more independence and self determination. Can't have it both ways.

  2. “But it is the question if we are having the Voice, does it make people's lives in remote communities better?". Easy to answer that question. NO, it won't make a scrap of difference to the lives of people in remote communities. How can it? Government already knows the problems, so it doesn't need more people to tell it the same things. The members of the 'national' voice won't be elected by people in remote communities. They will be predominately appointed from inner city elites who have ZERO connection to remote communities. How is one appointed members from each state to represent 'remote communities' supposed to be across the diversity of problems and perspectives of a whole state. The thing is a disaster just waiting to happen.

  3. Step back one level, unemployment. Substance abuse is largely the result of a pointless life. I'd probably drink all day long too if I was stuck in Alice Springs with nothing to do.
