Same in NSW. About 3 weeks ago people started to get back to normal, other than some shops deciding to remain closed, and the pubs and cafes be forced to be effectively closed you wouldn't even think there was some 'crises'. The majority of people long ago stopped listening to the governments and their public service hacks. Governments are now just pretending they are still running things in order to save some 'face'.

@kingdavid448 The chances of finding a vaccine are EXTREMELY low. As you probably know none has ever been found for a coronavirus, and isn't due to a lack of trying i.e. the common cold. Even if they'r did find one, it would be many years till the necessary testing was done. The very notion of rolling out a totally new vaccine in 12-18 months is completely reckless talk. As such the only prudent strategy is one based upon a belief one won't exit. The 'vaccine' aspect is interesting from a broader perspective. It either demonstrates those making decisions are either completely clueless, or if as its reasonable to assume do know the likelihood and pitfalls, have no hesitation lying to the general public.

But if we just learn to live with Covid-19 like we have with all the other bugs that have come along, then just like all the other recent pandemics the urgency to find a vaccine diminishes and research grants dry up. We simply can't have that happen again. Jobs in medical research are dependent on milking this for as long as possible. It's not easy to get governments to cough up billions for research. Don't you care about peoples jobs?

I think you need to be more then "concerned". I've already accepted there will be a whole raft of extra taxes. The logical starting ones will be preferential tax treatment of negative gearing, franking credits, superannuation income, family home excluded from the pension assets test. Does it sound like 'class warfare', yes it does but this time it will prove successful at the ballot box. The elderly trying to hang onto their wealth will just look selfish and greedy when the cost of 'protecting' them from the virus is having to be carried near completely by the young.
