Comments by "John Woodrow" (@johnwoodrow8769) on "Rudd about 'revenge' not media 'diversity' at inquiry" video.
With the rise of social media, the internet, forums, and digital subscription services, the media landscape has never been more diverse than now in the history of mankind.

Kevin Rudd ... "Murdoch has a print monopoly". While that's factually wrong, he owns around 40% of the countries mastheads, not his fault they sell better than the opposition. However, to have even the major share of a dying industry, physical newspapers, is according to Kevin something we should be concerned about. Accept it Keven, you lost because you weren't wanted by the voters, and actually despised by the majority of your colleagues.

@passivehouseaustralia4406 So what are you actually trying to say? Rupert shouldn't be able to own papers that have a higher circulation than his competitors but putting out a product that people actually want to buy. That sounds like something that a communist country would embrace. People don't but the Sydney Morning Herald because it is a pile of crap. You struggle to find anything to read that makes it worth its $3? price tag.

@oldman2800 It's a pity though. I think a newspaper encourages the reader to flick through the pages, take in stories they may not otherwise read, and so exposes the reader to a range of points of view. Digital media is the opposite, encouraging the reader to only read what they are interested in and already have set ideas. This very forum being an example of that. I've been around long enough to have seen my fathers generation, pre TV, who nearly all read both the morning and evening paper on their way to work in the train/bus/etc. I truly think they were a more informed generation on current events. I'm staggered when I watch shows like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and the lack of general knowledge on quite simple questions by so many of the participants.

@passivehouseaustralia4406 Compare Murdoch to young Packer. Young Packer couldn't wait to get out of the media business as soon as his father died and he took control. Murdoch is like Packer Senior, they are newspaper and media people first, then business people second.

@alanakafang6143 Based upon your response, clearly a more intelligent one than you live in.

@andeno10 I certainly agree that the bulk of media e.g. ABC, SBS, 7/910, etc all sprout the same left wing woke agenda. But if someone wants a different perspective, there is SkyNews, Fox News. In print media there is a world of difference between The Australia and say The Sydney Morning Herald. So yes, plenty of diversity if people are prepared to look for it. But again, I certainly agree the left wing certainly have the most 'voices'.
