I actually hope a yes campaigner knocks on my door. I truly would like him/her/they/it to explain to me how a non elected group of 'aboriginal' elites in Canberra will make a practical real world difference to the fundamental problems (domestic violence, substance abuse, crime, etc) among remote communities. So far I have yet to hear ANYONE explain this in even a half convincing manner. Everyone already knows the problems.

The irony is a centralised 'voice' to federal parliament will hurt existing aboriginal grassroots community organisations more than anyone else. It will totally de-power, de-platform, and negate the wishes and priorities of these local bodies. Removing the grog bans in the NT was a classic example of how the elite inner city 'aboriginals' (supported by the left-wing MSM) were more than happy to throw women and children in remote communities 'under the bus' for a purely ideological position.

Telstra is holding internal staff meeting for its employees to push the 'yes' vote. So not only are these woke companies donating financially, they are actively pressuring their employees.

@wuper2270 Yes, the problems in remote communities can only be solved by those remote communities. The men need to stop bashing up the women and sexually assaulting the children. The parents need to take responsibility for their children and ensure they are looked after and given a good education. Money needs to be spent on decent food rather than booze. No government department or another unelected body in Canberra is going to fix up these fundamental problems which can only be addressed in the home and local community. The 'voice' (made up predominately by unelected inner city elites with no more insight or wisdom that other city folk) will actually undermine whatever the local community may want to do. The very notion that just because someone has a past aboriginal relative which gives them special insights and solutions to problems in remote communities is laughable.
