Yep, the 'Trumpers' are celebrating, but the Democrats are celebrating this announcement WAY more loudly. A win for the Democrats in 2024 is now virtually guaranteed.

@shilohphoenix2374 On what basis do you make the statement "democrats are terrified of him running again"? Trump is a gift from heaven to the Democrats, they pray every night for Trump to be the Republican candidate as he is their only chance of retaining office. The Democrats are demonising Trump, everything is purely for that one goal. They certainly do not want to stop him from running. P.S. Again you make flawed assumptions, that I am a "lefty". Nothing could be further from the truth. I want to see conservative politicians in office, people who can win and HOLD office. Trump can't do either. He is the greatest asset the left has at this point in time.

@de6212 DeSantis would be mad NOT to wait till 2028, and he aren't mad. Running against Trump for the nomination will guarantee both are looses in 2024. DeSantis will let Trump loose all by himself in 2024, and then run in 2028 when he will just stroll into the Presidency (if that's what he wants).

@nunyabeeswax3112 After Donald's lack luster speech and formal announcement he was running the other night, I actually think its possible even Donald doesn't want to really be the Republican nominee at the next election. He had painted himself into a corner where he had no other option than to say he is running and go through the motions. It would have been impossible that his proclaimed "big news" was going to be he wouldn't run. He had deluded himself the big red wave was going to happen and his announcement of running would fit into the 'wave' he created. Now that the 'wave' didn't happen, just as the polls always showed, he has to continue the charade till some time in the future where he withdraws with hopefully less loss of 'face' than doing so know.

@maryg.3190 Yep, he's done a lot, the most notable being ensured the woke left are firmly entrenched in office, implementing their agenda into every walk of life, and likely to be that way for the next 6 years. What else is his enduring legacy? Half finished walls doing nothing, a temporary retreat from the WHO and Paris Agreement? In warfare Donald's legacy is the equivalent of capturing a forward position, only to have to surrender it and retreat back after a couple days. Unless you can hold that position and make further advancements you have achieved nothing.

Not quite. This announcement by Trump has effectively removed all serious Republicans from the 2024 race. No other possible Republican will want to get into a mudsling fight with Trump as there will be no winners. They will just cool their heels till 2028. And so this announcement has effectively guarantee another 4 more years of Democrats in the Presidency. It won't be Biden/Harris as the people behind the Democrats are not that stupid to run these puppets again.

Boy, gaslighting to a whole new level. Trump just scapes in in 2016 primarily due to the weak Democrat candidate Hillary. Two years latter in 2018 the Republicans loose the House. In 2020 The Republicans loose the House, the Senate, the Presidency and two critical state run-offs. In 2022, in a situation where there should have been a landslide the Republicans retake the House with only the slimmest of margins, but go further backward in the Senate. In critical swing electorates Trump supported candidates do relatively poorly. Yes, if you like "Trump loosing" which you've enjoyed a lot of since 2016 you aren't going to be disappointed in 2024.
