Comments by "John Woodrow" (@johnwoodrow8769) on "'Dosen't make sense' for govt to spend $368 billion on subs amid cost of living crisis" video.
And it won't be 'just' $368 Billion. That figure is nothing other than an initial guess. Snowy2's initial guess was $2.5 Billion, its now $15 Billion and still counting. The final cost of the submarine project is certain to many multiples high than initial estimates. History makes that a certain FACT! So lets say the final bill is something like a TRILLION dollars (it'll be more). So should an already broke financially country be spending that sort of money when its now near impossible for young Australia's to even buy a home?

In case you haven't noticed, Australia is an island, has no disputed border with its neighbours, and none of the population and out territory identify as belonging to one of our neighbours. Mere unimportant facts I know to war mongers.

You need to get a map out and look where China is in relation to Australia.

No, I'm expecting to get little, if any, "technology transfer and a modern shipbuilding industry" over the next 30 years as virtually everything will be dome by US contractors.

The reason you can't figure out the sense of this TRILLION dollar project (it WILL be vastly more expensive than initial estimates)is because it makes no sense. Not from any perspective other than a massive transfer of taxpayer funds to the UK and US.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Only some of them, and then only part of those. You really thing we are planning to build nuclear propulsion systems or advanced weapons and control systems. And what is actually constructed here will be undertaken by US contractors.
1
@buildmotosykletist1987 WE (as Australian companies) are NOT building "some of the most advanced weapons systems here. Clearly you know very little about the role of major overseas contractors (predominately US e.g. Boeing) in the Australian defence procurement program.

@buildmotosykletist1987 No shortage of 'useful idiots' on social media ..."The SCIFiRE Program is based on more than 15 years of collaboration between Australia and the United States on science and technology research into hypersonic scramjets, rocket motors, sensors, and advanced manufacturing materials."
1
@buildmotosykletist1987 A little more information for your education, which is obviously seriously lacking ... "Raytheon Missiles & Defense, a Raytheon Technologies business, in partnership with Northrop Grumman, was awarded a $33.7 million U.S. Air Force contract to design a technology demonstration concept for a hypersonic cruise missile as part of the Southern Cross Integrated Flight Research Experiment. SCIFiRE is a bilateral effort between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Australian Department of Defence to advance air-breathing hypersonic technologies. The SCIFiRE program is the next step toward a full-size hypersonic prototype. “SCIFiRE is just one example of how Raytheon Missiles & Defense is leading the way in hypersonic weapons development,”
1
@buildmotosykletist1987 Oh, and it seems both Boeing and Lockheed Martin are also in on the deal ... "The US Air Force (USAF) has granted Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon separate contracts to develop air-breathing, hypersonic cruise missiles. The contracts are part of the Southern Cross Integrated Flight Research Experiment (SCIFiRE), a joint project between the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the Australian Department of Defence that was announced in November 2020." This is so easy there should be a law against it.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Yea, yea, yea. ALL the hard work was done by US major military contractors. Each of the three biggest military contractors in the UNITED STATES were give multi million dollar contracts by the US AIRFORCE to develop a prototype. "Boeing received $39.6 million and Lockheed $27.2 million for the phase I preliminary design review of the Southern Cross Integrated Flight Research Experiment (SCIFiRE) Project. Both contracts are for work on maturing a solid-rocket boosted, air-breathing, hypersonic conventional cruise missile, air-launched from existing fighter/bomber aircraft, through the completion of a preliminary design review. Work under the contracts is expected to be completed by August 2022. In a separate contract announcement on September 3, the Pentagon said it awarded Raytheon Missiles & Defense a $27.9 million contract for work on the program."

@buildmotosykletist1987 No reply to what? As far as I'm concerned you made a total fool of yourself with your example of 'Australian' technology. You just proved my point, ALL development was undertaken by the 3 major US military contractors. Are you suggesting the subs will also be built on this same basis. The US contractors will construct them based on Australia's expertise in nuclear propulsion system, advanced submarine control systems, and submarine construction? Give it up, you made a fool of yourself, and a bunch of childish insults won't alter that fact.
