Nice emotional comment, pity its not very accurate. The average 'battler' working Australian actually pays very little income tax after family rebates, etc, etc. Certainly not enough to cover the day to day costs during their working life of their children's education, health costs, share for defense of the country, etc, etc, Nearly half of all income tax paid comes from just the top 10% of income earners.

The bottom line is don't EVER rely on the government to take 'care of you', at any stage of your life. If you do your are ALWAYS going to be sadly disappointed. Government couldn't organize a booze-up in a brewery, so why on earth would you think these soulless bureaucracies have the ability to look after you.
