  1. Good decision by the government (should have been a coal plant, but "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good). If the government wants to spend money to stimulate the economy, these are the type of investments it should be doing. Long lasting wealth creating assets, not 'cash slashes' for people to buy even more Chinese made junk to be thrown into landfills. Electricity generation should be seen as a strategic asset of the country and the government should play a MAJOR direct role. Australia was at it's strongest when State governments built power stations in competition with each other to attract businesses and jobs. The only problem with government owning gas/coal power stations is at some point Labor may regain office.
