  1. If you close many of the retail stores, what else are you expecting to see but 'growth' when they open. Same deal with consumer confidence. Convince everyone they are going to die and when it doesn't happen, they are going to be what, less confident about the future? Bottom line, retails sales were in a slump before the current 'crises', add a couple million more unemployed, sagging house price, and reduced investment returns, and retail sales are only going one way. DOWN!
