Comments by "John Woodrow" (@johnwoodrow8769) on "Republican Nikki Haley faces backlash after 'poor handling' of US Civil War question" video.
Nonsense. As the former governor of South Carolina she knows exactly the history and attitudes toward slavery at that time. She knows perfectly well the history of the big brass statute of John C Calhoun at the capital building, who declared slavery to be a “positive good”. And the reason for flying the Confederate battle flag above the capitol when she was governor.

Utter BS. Slavery WAS the single and only cause. Try reading the successions documents of the states that formed the union.

As a former governor of South Carolina Haley knows exactly the causes of the Civil War. She is just trying (poorly) to dodge around the issue to hopefully pick up some votes from the nut jobs who believe in the 'lost cause' gaslighting of history.

@zargonfuture4046 What a stupid piece of logic. Since the beginning of time the powerful elites in society have been coning, paying, even forcing the poor and illiterate to go war and possibly die doing their dirty work.

@OpEditorial Rather than being an also ran, she was probably the best chance of the Republicans winning the Presidency. Without the women's and independent vote Trump can't win. But Hallie trying to appease the white supremists means the end of her race. Noone of ANY credibility would try to defend the right of people to own slaves.

Nikki Haley's support for the Confederate 'Lost Cause' rewriting of the causes of the American Civil War makes her unfit to hold public office. Even if she doesn't personally believe that nonsense, that she isn't prepared to publicly call out this fabrication of history in order to possibly win a few votes from the nut jobs who believe this gaslighting of history is just as bad, if not even worse.

Utter nonsense. "Proponents of the pseudo-historical Lost Cause ideology have denied that slavery was the principal cause of the secession, a view that has been disproven by the overwhelming historical evidence against it, notably the seceding states' own secession documents.[3]"

It IS a "big deal". Trying to appease white supremacists who believe in the gaslighting of history just to hopefully pull a few extra votes IS a big deal. It an appalling position to take.
