@rattusfinkus If in fact wind and/or solar are cheaper IN PRACTICE that say gas/coal/nuclear/hydro what major country in the world has the cheapest electricity due to the majority of their generation being wind and/or solar? Don't worry, I already know the answer .... there is none.

@rattusfinkus Thanks for confirming that wind and solar are NOT the cheapest form of electricity in practice. To make them viable some other form of dispatchable base load power system e.g gas needs to be maintained. It is an integral part of a 'renewables system'. When the total system cost is added up, the result is higher electricity costs, just as detailed modelling by the International Energy Agency and practice demonstrate. Above 30% wind/solar in the mix starts this exponential cost increase. The claim that renewables are the cheapest form of electricity generation is FALSE! It's more that just false, it a blatant lie peddled by carpetbaggers and rent-seekers.

@rattusfinkus No, a total network comprising a high percentage of wind and solar (greater than around 30%) starts becoming one of the most EXPENSIVE networks. The more solar/wind added, the more expensive the total network becomes. EXACTLY for the reasons the International Energy Agency state, and what is clearly demonstrated in practice. I'm still waiting for your to tell me the industrialised country with very high wind solar power network, and cheap electricity. You can't. And until you can EVERYTHING you say is just flawed theoretical hot air. I'll bet you don't even understand the MAJOR flaw in the LOCE calculation in relation to the total network cost. If you did you won't have referred to it in a previous comment.

@rattusfinkus You really should stop trying to promote wind/solar on social media platforms as you clearly know very little about the subject. As I said previously, the very fact you can't name a SINGLE country on the planet that has reduced its electricity costs by implementing wind/solar CLEARLY demonstrates you are just all hot-air. The reason you can't name a single one, is because there aren't ANY! For the very simple engineering reasons the world most authoritative source on the subject, the International Energy Agency, state.

@rattusfinkus No coal isn't going broke. It's currently at near record high prices with strong demand. The future is for increasing demand, especially Asia, as the problems with wind/solar become more apparent. The future for coal is very bright. Just as well as both the Queensland and NSW State Budget are highly dependent on coal royalties to pay for hospitals, teachers, police, the arts, and all manner of social services.

@rattusfinkus Rather than rely on theory from a corrupt left-wing woke organisations such as the CSIRO, I'll stick to what both the International Energy Agency and global practical experience indicate.

@rattusfinkus Your 'theory', and that's all it is, isn't supported by the International Energy Agency, nor demonstrated ANY where in the world. A high percentage of wind/solar results in a more expensive total grid. As the percentage of wind/solar increases so does the total cost of the grid. This can be demonstrated in EVERY advanced nation on the planet that has embraced wind/solar. You can't even name ONE country where the opposite has occurred. You've now become boring, seemingly just another boring internet troll. Don't expect any further response.

Charging EV's at night is already a cause of concern in the US. Basically the developing problem is the heaviest demand for electricity is shifting from the daytime to the night time because of all the EV's plugged in, air cons on, cooking/showers etc. At the same time electricity generation is at its lowest as more and more wind and solar take over the grid.
