The real question is, who would really want to be in government for the next few years with the cost of the pandemic over them? There's a fair chance that any government in power over the next 5 years is going to get a lot of stick from the people once the reality of the cost of the pandemic kicks in and it starts to hit the people and voters tend to have short memories and tend to blame the government at the time regardless of policies they enact. For the moment, the people are protected on the pandemic by the government but that's not going to last forever, those debts and cost will have to be paid back by the people and it's a lot of money, any government in power at the time that pushes on that will get a lot of abuse from the people even thought it has to be done, the irony being, it might be best to lose the next election so that the rival party gets a lot of the abuse.
