True and as much as the EU would prefer a deal over a no deal, they are not going to bend over backwards for the UK, especially as the UK is acting like an entitled brat lol. Like you said, most would put the EU market first over the UK market and at the end of the day, the EU should just call the UK's bluff, reason being is because they keep doing that, keep threatening to walk away but never doing, it's clear they need a deal but they seem to want the EU to give them some cake, the EU won't give them any because it would undermine the single market and custom union. In the end, the UK seems to want what the EU won't offer and that is mostly much of the same terms they had in the EU but without any of the cost and that is in the end what the real hold up is here.

Ynwa6 How is higher taxes on business better, that's what WTO rules more or less are, is that Brexit logic 101? There is no way WTO rules are better if you do any trade with other countries.

@mushogi It will likely take a lot longer than a couple of weeks to really see the impact of Brexit, yes we'll see a sudden impact next year but the negative impact will be felt long term, especially for the UK. Also like Perp said, the EU is quite happy to continue to talk, the UK seems to want too regardless of all the threats of them walking away that they never do. Personally, with the way the UK government is acting, if I was the EU, I would stop all talks and only start talking once the UK government grows up as they are acting like entitled little brats that think the EU should give them a good deal. Best way to teach this government a lesson is to give them what they think they want, that will hurt them overall and then the EU can continue the talks at a future date when the UK is even more on the back foot.

@donaldboughton8686 That's just the near term future damage, Brexit is a long-lasting thing that the damage is continually, basically, unless we get a good deal with the EU or manage to replace that trade else ware, we all in the UK will be worse off for it but then I think that needs to happen for the real penny to drop as the message isn't sinking in with Brexiteers, that will begin next year unless Boris backs down which he might do.

Ynwa6 Yes and the EU has full access to that market as well, probably better access than what the UK has once Brexit is done with, at the end of the day, EU companies now have the advantage of easy access to the EU market and a lot of free trade deals and bilateral deals around the world, that's likely just going to push up cost for UK businesses and consumers and is also likely going to get a few of the big ones to relocate to the EU market, especially if they do a lot of business there as it wouldn't make much sense to set up shop in the UK market if a lot of their trade is with EU countries.

@englishcple Considering they are buying them already, I would say yes, besides, it's not like they won't sell their cars to the UK, it's just that they will be more expensive for them to buy unless they build their cars in the UK with the supple chain being in the UK but the problem is that the UK market is too small, most companies will focus on the bigger markets like the EU, US and China, that's where the real money is and it's easier for them to sell to a lot more people under the same rule set. The UK would have to have a lot of the same rule sets as the EU to benefit from that, something which is becoming a big sticking point for the Tories.

@Joker-yw9hl Not saying the UK market isn't important but the rest of the EU market is a lot more important to them than the UK is, also now with Biden in power in the US, there is a fair chance that TTIP could start up again wholes removing some of the controversial things in it, after all, it was shelved not scrapped and I suspect both the EU and US will want to get closer together now with everything thats going on around the world and with China. As for the UK, I have a feeling that Scotland could push hard for it's own deal with the EU as a threat to the UK government on the independence movement, basically, they could push for something like what Northern Ireland might get. In any event, I think a deal will be made, 98% is already there and it would br crazy to let it fail on the last 2% but the EU isn't going to bow to UK demands, in other words, it's up to the UK to bend a lot now, either that or no Brexit it is which as much as it hurts both, it hurts the UK a lot more and actually could open up many benefits for EU countries as companies flee the UK market.
