Considering how integrated the EU countries already are, I can well see in time when it becomes something like a federal Europe or something like that, especially for Euro Zone countries.
I suspect a big reason it will happen not because we want it as such but because of the changing realities in the world, if we in Europe want to stay relevant with other big powers like the US and China, we're going to have to band together in more areas, otherwise they will just push us aside which could become a threat to the European social, political and economic model.
Basically, I don't think we have much choice if we still want to get our own way, but the real question is, what form of government and system would it be?
As for Volt, don't know much about them but going on many of their policies, they seem quite progressive in a lot of areas and yes, many of these problems would be much better served at an EU level, migrants being one of them because the real problem is with that is that you get members complaining to each other in how many each should take and some taking too many whiles others not doing enough, a pan-European policy would help a lot on that.
