Why don't you ask some pertinent questions like what happened to all the working class people who used to live here and took pride in their little homes ? Why did they move ? Where did they move to ? Who, exactly, is buying these houses ? Why is Burnley Council allowing such degradation and rubbish on the streets ? What plans have they got for improving the housing stock ? Any bets on who runs Burnley Council ? So much for the Tory's leveling up. Politicians make me sick !!!!!

@jakubszott6394 The council is responsible for enforcing fly tipping laws and cleaning up hazardous waste. But you are right, there has been a general degeneration in behaviour and personal responibility in the UK

Why don't you ask champagne socialist local MP Ed Millipede why Doncaster is so run down ? Maybe his job as Shadow Secretary of State for Climate Change and Net Zero is far too important for him to worry about the state of his constituency or his constituents.

@jameslewis2635 You need to think again James. Far more mines were shut down under Labour governments than Tory ones. The decline in the mining industry began in the 1950s long before anyone had ever heard of Margaret Thatcher. Many mines were uneconomical with thin veins of coal and difficult mining conditions. Imports were cheaper - that's economics for you. Whether the taxpayer could have and would have wanted to subsidise British coal is another matter.

If the governments Leveling Up initiative was anything more than a cynical attempt to keep the red brick voters on side they could buy up hundreds of these properties, bulldoze them and recreate the communities which used to live here with modern housing with gardens and amenities and offer incentives to tech industries to establish themselves in the area to provide the jobs. Just the construction work itself would be a huge boost to the local economy.

You occasionally get close to something of real interest when you mention Russian and Saudi money. So who is so keen to live in London that they are prepared to pay such ludicrous prices ? I think there's more than a hint of money laundering here. And, by the way, a ceiling is not a roof.

Demolish the lot and rebuild with the same bricks with gardens and green spaces. But most of all secure funding for industry and commerce. Don't imagine that Labour will be any different than the Tories. Labour has tried to block ( admittedly pathetic ) attempts by the Tories to control our borders. The billions spent on hotels for illegal migrants would have been better spent on areas like these and BRITISH people.
