U can't subsidize staple food items with the foreign currency u absorve and expect everything to go well all the time. It's common sense: don't play with food.

Same with egipt a very known agriculture based economy that started to be negative producer under the baath party (socialist). Ruanda is developing fast and it isn't socialist. Angola was self sustained food wise with surplus prior to its civil war but post civil war the socialist linent never bothered to reinstate the farmlands and now it imports food. Botswana (with a big arid land like morroco) never went down the socialist revolutionary ideology and also never had a starving population meanwhile starting the rank as 2nd poorest country in the world. Development and food don't go hand in hand.

The situation could be way better if iberian people with power had the will to make a permaculture regenerative corridor across the peninsula with swamp areas made out of excess rain watter - it would increse humidity and diminish the overall dryness meaning less harsh uncontroled fires. Science already said what to do its the humans that don't do what needs to be done.

  25. It's not an ac solution, it's building solution. My house in Iberia is from the 80's and there isn't a need for AC, it's fresh inside because the walls are thick and the shutters are wood and its surrounded by the garden with trees that offer shade. The 90's onward saw construction in quantity but not quality. Besides the fact a lot of natural swamp areas and green corridors were cimented with new construction - hence why the rise in temperature and low humidity is worst. Climate change plus bad policy of the last 40 years (populism) did this.

Both biz are doing fine, providing jobs and paying taxes. If they were a bit more fascist and imposed some for of foreign temporary rule in first stage of ocupation than that would be possible, but they don't as it isn't their objective.
