It was never about nato, that was the excuse. It was about monopoly in gas supply price and hard influence by force.

@yahyaelmi8435 not really, most european countries had its own wars and have their own remembering day. Also, in school those same wars are taught with very vivid images of war and all the suffering. It's one of the reasons of EU, cooperation instead of conflict as was in the past. Finally, some still have people in the family who went to war and lost limbs or have died etc. Finally, putin has revived nato and increase in military budget which made a lot of europeans worry as the memory is still very fresh.

@yahyaelmi8435 and that isn't the last time european countries, individually, experienced war. For example, portugal was at war in the 60's and some of our family member are missing limbs or have severe ptsd. So 🤷‍♀️yup we remember the consequence of being at war pretty well and we don't desire it at all. Being ethnic somali or the place where u studied doesn't make u an authority of collective memory. Cultural studies is the area that spends time around said issues, which weirdly is my area. Now, u were writing?
