@WhichDoctor1 my dude, the downstairs neighbour is poor cause it's ressources profits stay only on his room tenant. African countries are very rich, their problem isn't financing but corruption. A few payments for rulling party/ class and u get them to make their people use oil against their best interest. The less infrastructure of african countries makes renewables such as solar and wind way less expensive - its a no brainer as it's easier to build a solar farm (see morroco) than to invest in expensive infrastructure thru mountain and forests and deserts to conect locations to carbon burning power producing industries. Way cheaper to build small solar and wind power in loco. The math has been done- the corrupt elite just doesn't care, it only cares about ressource selling and getting rich (for them and their tribe/ clan).

My dude it is the xxi century and economic group interests aren't devided into colony vs colonizer. Most former colonizers aren't opec plus.

@mabl4746 science... 🤦♀️ Please read about it.

Industrialized countries pay a carbon tax. If that money is embezzled by corrupt rulling class in less industrialized countries - that's not on industrialized economies. More developed countries isn't the daddy of the less developed ones.

@ozzinas4024 saudi depends on usa for military protection since the cold war 😂

@Fx_- it does reduce demand as it makes everything pricier, making the consumer reduce the goods it consumes, the first being privileges like a trip on the weekend or a plane ride vacation. It just doesn't reduce demand enough to affect opec plus profits.

Governments are a necessarily evil. So no, they are incompetent and selfish actors.

@KGF-zf2qj japan and germany don't need protection at the moment, saudi does.

@KGF-zf2qj saudi has decided long ago to have usa as military protector. Any denying of this is just propaganda and narratives.

@mna7308 it's not a usa thing, or usa companies, it's a world lobby and has a name, it's opec plus which include some but not exclusive usa companies. Usa was actually the one country who was able to beat the oil lobby in the past, see lead refining as a case study and check that the last country to refine oil with lead was a soviet align one, algeria. At least when being a tankie, get ur facts straight.
