Problem here is confusing external policy with internal policy. 1. Yes, it is important to have control of the border, but it's also true that the border issue was true a century ago (and neither party solved it back than). 2. Foreign policy: not only is a diferent topic but also conflating it is dishonest and serves foreign propaganda (case in point the pacifists that were latter discovered of being soviet propagandists during the cold war).
