It's the other way arround, watter becomes secure with forestation. Check permaculture programs where forgotten streams came back. Problem is government corruption and people's culture of distruction. It's actually a common theme in the world, just more visible in madagascar.

Regenerative farming and permaculture would help immensely but they also need to control demographics as its thru the roof.

@dodzb7362 trees in certain areas (like madagascar) absorb the humidity non stop and thus make up for the lack of rain when parerns are disrupted. No trees equals a drier and drier no rain season. Some permaculture projects have reached the stage where streams former dead got back to life. Problem is a bunch of factors, one of which the no trees by the hands of an explosion of demographics. Basicly, too many people, too less trees, inept government and climate change.

@raclark2730 science in the end wins, there has been attempts to place political narratives in science discoveries since time immemorial. Those narratives are temporary, scientific studies are not. Anyways we shouldn't deny climate change either, it's very real. It's just not the only factor, a big elephant in the room is the fact we reached the 8 billion human mark, just too many of our species.

@raclark2730 facts-too many of us. Its basic math not a conspiracy theory. Madagascar were roughly 5 million at the beguining of the century, they haven't developed economically much but they reached roughly more than 30 million. That's 30 million to feed in a small economy. Basic common sense: if u have 1 sardine and invite 10 people for dinner, u get 10 starving guests. Dont wanna face reality, don't worry starving kids faces such the ones I grew up with (and still have nightmares) will make sure ull learn the basic math lesson of nature.

And over reproducing, government corruption, no reflorestation or sturdy sustained economic devrlopment program, intensive agro-biz, etc. It was a recipe for disaster and madagascar was actually warned, officials just didn't listen.
