I don't think member states are prepared for that.

That's the biggest chalange. Member states have different foreign policy interests.

@soksvaleryankoy not very natural, member states are too different to work as a federation.

@kukulroukul4698 that's a false equivalence and an ignorant statement.

@PemampemTV "self-reliant" is a past concept and a bad one. U wants to do all, u end up with no specialization. Interests of member states have always been factored, saying otherwise is non sense.

@PemampemTV being an economist doesn't give u any superiority on the matter. Self reliant in a small block 😂 in this day an age (for comparisson, brazil is bigger than the whole of europe), yup u should be an advisor cause ur a genious 😂

@dacian_1346 really? Are u gonna be successful joining spain and portugal with almost 1000 years rivalry? Do u think the portuguese would even consider it when their whole identity sums up with the trope "not spain"? Good luck with that 😂

@dacian_1346 it isn't about living together, portuguese and spanish are the same, it was by chance and politics back in the middle ages that made it 2 countries, portuguese and spanish refer to each other as brothers. But portuguese whole identity is being the one region that is independant and wasn't absorbed into spain, like galicia or cataluna or the basques. Being the same country as spain is asking the portuguese to abandon their 1st historical achievement, their identity and centuries working for achieving it. I as portuguese I couldn't care less but I'm not ur tipical portuguese, far from it. I know my country man, they are majorly happy with EU but that would change if they lost this, it's a national pride. U just need to see the reaction of a portugues when u refer to portugal as spain 🤷♀️

Europe isn't really a continent, it's a portion of one and member states have cultural and political conections historically (royals were basicly cousins). On the other hand, africa is whole continent with different regions having very different cultures and historical politics. It's a way bigger chalenge for african union than it is between european countries. Hope to have helped contextualize.
