@weneedpeace92 it won't gain economic growth cause that's impossible. It's about stable public accountant: paying what u owe first. That's what messed this up: the taxes were lowered but sri lanka has big loans to pay. See it this way: if u owe all your friends money than u can't think about buying more stuff without first paying your debt. That's the imf demand. But here is the problem: imf doesn't tell you what public policy u do because its not a government. Hope to have helped.

No, that's not how it works. The 45% u speak of has way lower interest rates and a portion of it is of the civil war. U can't go to western companies, buy guns, and then cry that they aren't free. And before u go around crying about western military complex remember the first army using gun powder was very much asian. West is no one's daddy, nor responsible for sri lanka bad racist choices post colonialism - that's on sri lanka rulling class!!!

@saladknight1089 ya but with economic polarization, greedy politicians will have other kinds of loans available and that's a huge risk. Most people hate the imf but imf is like the dentist, it only hurts if u haven't clean ur teeth consistently.
