Swales and permaculture tecniques would definatelly help to counter these events. Also, infrastructure needs to be rethinked altogether: roads become rivers in weather events like this, etc.

@jrrarglblarg9241 not really, u just need a good comprehensive topography study and u predict what happens in a weather event. There are places already doing this and after hard work and investment (less than u think) after a few years in turns the areas way more resilient to these events. The knowlege is here, its just political will to introduce the infrastructure and building codes.

@reddragon100 that's the thing. For weather events u needs lots of much cheaper small dams and lots of topography analisis and swales etc and not big projects. Big projects is about big buisiness and making a few extremely rich. Weather events resilience is about small projects and comunity work. Research about it as there is a whole movement working on this around the world. The way we think agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructure is wrong and outdated. There is a much better way of doing all this: it creates way more wealth and way less rich people - and that's where we need to push politicians.
