  2. okyouknowwhatever I don't know which part of Europe you are from, but in Denmark "liberal" is still about the basic classical liberal principles: * Self ownership and personal freedom * You have the right to the fruit of your own labor * Your freedom extends exactly so far that it does not infringe of the equal freedom of others. ... and the right to free speech and so on, but very admit to being opposed to that.

  3. ***** Ok...the UK in many areas follow a different "anglo-saxon" tradition than continental Europe. (common law, the foundation of copyright, etc..) I wouldn't be surprised if the meaning of "liberal" wrt. politics in the UK different too. However... Trying to pin-point exactly which variant of liberalism "Venstre" adheres to is futile. They have many factions and being in government always adds a great deal of pragmatism. Still ... at its core, they are at "liberal" party. Actually ... Denmark has 4 different liberal parties. btw... "Conservative liberalism" have always sounded like an oxymoron to mee :)
