  1. yeah, a lot of professional soft runs on macosx and is just easy to deal with too, as opposed to linux where... not so much or not at all. and it's not true that "linux just works" -- the problems with config, compatibility, versioning, are ENDLESS :) I do wish it were the case that it just worked!!

  5. I was an editor before I became a programmer and let me tell you I hate word and these other editors now -- compared to plain text editors like vim and such, they are so clunky and so unwieldy. I still do some editing for some author academics and I wish I could tell them "let's just use plain text!!!"
