@CarFreeSegnitz "The whole point of going into space is to experience microgravity." That may be a major driver of space tourism, but space tourism is just a stepping stone on the way to space colonization.

@user-rt8sh7xt1d It's been state run for some time and we're not getting anywhere. The way forward is profit. One thing holding the process back is a government thing, the legal notion that space resources are the "common heritage of mankind". Unless the prospector can OWN it he has no incentive to GET it. This needs to change for the sake of human progress and survival.

You have a choice, so it's not slavery. It's not like anybody is forcing you to go. It's not like anybody even invited you. Stay home, or not. Or hold your breath until governments start acting in humanity's best interest. " It is because the leaders of our society has nothing to gain by doing something like this" And, for them, they're right. They have theirs. They look at every person or dollar spent outside their jurisdiction as one less that they can control. If governments were to drive the development and settlement of space, they would only mess it up.
