Yea, even I tend to forget in the face of the unified Israeli response to the attacks that to outside eyes Israel immediately before the attacks appeared to be irreconcilably divided amongst themselves. I suppose they were counting on that division and Biden administration weakness to blunt Israel's response.

The bulk of the Caananites were wiped out or dispersed in the conquests of Joshua or David, or the conquests of the Persians and Greeks. Tyre was a holdout coastal city of the Phillistines, a Caananite tribe which in turn were a subset of the Phonecian culture. The Caananites are no more.
