  1. The substance of this internal revolt, I believe, is about Senate committee chairs having no power and the Speaker having all the power. What power? The power to bring bills to the floor for a vote. Freedom Caucus does not want to see a picture portrait of McCarthy when they open up the House Rules Book as the only rule in the book. When committees are done reviewing aspects of the American economy in need reform or legislation the Speaker has the power to not snub the committee’s work et al investigations by not bringing bills to a vote, so they can pass, to become legislation. If you are a conservative right winger and want to dismantle social security your committee might come up with a piece of legislation to cut social security and the Speaker will never bring the bill to the floor. Vice versa, committee investigations on the democratic side has a Speaker, Hakeem Jeffries, will not hold the floor from a vote on their hearings, but in becoming legislation brings on the campaign to win over a few republicans. This is where the dirty work of politics comes in...this is when you strong arm or threaten a few republicans to vote in favor of the bill. The democrats have an aggressive method of pushing legislation down the throats of the American people through their representatives. Does the Freedom Caucus mean what they say? Committee assignments mean a lot when you will never have one as an elected senator. It will be a cold day in hell when George Santos heads a committee when he gets sworn, ---the isolation treatment he’ll get will kill his career in the next election. So committee assignments do mean a lot contrary to the words of Gaetz. What NY-ers need are ballot initiatives to make recall elections the law so the state does not waste a senate term occupied by a sitting duck with have no effect of representation in Congress while he is there. What is this internal revolt mean? We saw what it means when LA City Council could not function without all its members and do its business the homeless problem in LA got worse and more infrastructure was damaged from storms the city is crippled and relying on private contractors for work does not happen was a microcosm of what happens when Congress cannot function; the national economy and the foreign economy intersect in conflicts and the Federal Government is helpless to intervene.
