The practice extends to employers of workers in the upper strata. Eventually the workers earning $70k annually will experience a decline in their material standard of living, longer hours of work, and conditions of work damaging to their well-being. On the job the work of workers intensifies with the use of technology into the labor-process to make work lighter gradually changes into a new system of detailed operations to make jobs even more simple. The more this happens the duration of work is prolonged indefinitely and the repeal of the working day limit of 8 hours is enacted when all opposition to a repeal is crushed.
