  1. Well, that would depend on how much Washington will tolerate of the changes Petro wants to make to the economy and how the billionaires and corporations of Columbia, its real estate land interests, its foreign banks interests, and foreign extraction companies take to losing profits to rich and wealthy business owners and employees taxed by the new government, plus will the military be on his side? Once in the State the whole picture changes to another reality. Easier to imagine how Bernie would have been held back by the right wing in Congress from enacting orders to tax the rich. Elections empower People outside of the State to place someone of their choice inside the State wherein the time between elections much damage is done to weaken Petro, even oust him. The pattern of the right wing in their struggle to be victorious over the left has been to use the legal system to oust an opponent. Charge them with trumped up charges, trial and lock them up. This strategy has been highly successful in eliminating any opposition. I would say the left, the social democrats, have a lot to worry about as the country could experience a far more reactionary regime after Petro. No...I think the answer is a social revolution, people power is the greater power not social democracy. I would prefer the People knock out the yoke that oppresses them and rebuild a government that is truly democratic by rebuilding an economy that is truly inclusive and responsive to need. Otherwise, we are back to the same BS but worse.
