  9. Nic Hall, Actually millions of lives saved. Right now about 20% of the US has been infected, and over 1/2 a million have died. That means 2.5 million dead after everyone has been infected. Lockdowns and masks are the only reason everyone hasn’t been infected yet. But now that everyone who wants a vaccine has been vaccinated, we can reopen and let the unvaccinated gain immunity the hard way. But we should cancel their health insurance first so they don’t increase out healthcare costs.

  20. peaceful journey, “5 months”, huh??? A friend of mine who was in the Moderna trial was vaccinated in July 2020. That’s 10 months ago. I tried to volunteer a few weeks later, and I was too late. They already had 30,000 volunteers. There were also people in the phase 1 human safety trial that they completed BEFORE July 2020. Those people have now had 13 or 14 months since they were vaccinated. They’re all still fine. Nothing has showed up after 2 months. These vaccines are much better than conventional vaccine, because instead of developing antibodies for 28 proteins, we only need to develop antibodies for 1 proteins. The only one that matters. That will lead to fewer side effects than extra antibodies that we don’t need.

  23. k8eekatt, 70% isn’t enough to reach herd immunity. It’s only enough to protect 95% of 70% from the virus. The rest will be infected, and many will get sick and die, or survive with lung, heart, or kidney damage.

  30. peaceful journey, The vaccines are obviously safe and effective. All you have to do is look at the numbers. Japan is currently doing their own clinical trials as well. That’s why their vaccine rollout is a bit delayed. Their waiting to see the results. We have data from many countries, and 1.6 billion people have now been vaccinated. If the vaccines were not safe it would be very obvious.
