He’s killing people by claiming over and over that Omicron is “milder” than Delta. It is not.

@F2a0bi0an5o , In the United States 2/3 of those who are hospitalized have at least 1 comorbidity, and about 50% of the population has at least 1 comorbidity. This means that having no comorbidities reduces your risk of being hospitalized by around 50%. The vaccines are much more effective than this. Obviously it’s good to be healthy, but even if you’re healthy, you’re at significant risk of hospitalization. It would be prudent to get vaccinated as well.

@suusenzo74 , The vaccines reduce your risk of hospitalization by 90-95%. It’s obviously a good idea. Dr. Campbell is vaccinated, and boosted. He also recommends that everyone get vaccinated. It’s a good idea to take his advice.

Omicron didn’t outcompete Delta. We reached herd immunity against Delta, and Omicron is able to infect everyone who’s vaccinated or previously infected. But fortunately the vaccines and previous infection still provide 90-95% protection against severe illness.

@alant2419 , Delta fell as we reached herd immunity against Delta. Omicron took over because it was able to infect everyone. If Omicron didn’t show up, Delta would have still gone away, because herd immunity is real.
