  3. I don't think breaking Russia up into dozens of pieces would be good - it would create a lot of misery and chaos. Also, it seems that this is precisely what they are afraid of - they keep claiming that if they don't prevail in Ukraine, the whole nation will cease to survive. Is there something we can do to guarantee to the Russians (outside of Putin's circle) that the country will remain intact regardless of the outcome of Putin's ill-fated enterprise?
