Feel-good, rags-to-riches, tearjerkers, and Avenger-type movies offer the cheapest temporary escape from reality where people get to imagine themselves as "superheroes".

As the first Lady in the video said, companies are looking for candidates with multiple skills for minimum salary. One worker doing the job of three people for the price of one. The guy's fault is his age and single set of skills. Workers like that are dime-in-a-dozen nowadays with so many unemployed.

They know they can demand ("take it or leave it") because there will be takers desperate for jobs in a challenging job market. After spending years getting expensive education leading to Master's or PhDs, life outside the universities is a huge reality check for young graduates who must now step up to the society's huge expectations of them. I bet anxiety attacks and depressions are getting common in China right now.
