  1. Living day-to-day is not exactly what you call 'living', but this is what these guys have been forced into, either by choice or whatever. A harsh environment and exploitative system that rob people of their dreams and motivation to the point that they just float with the current. Despite his hard life, the drifter guy sounds content with his adopted lifestyle: no responsibilities, no commitments, nothing to care for but himself. He's free.

  5. I hear even brothels are suffering. Lots of Chinese young ladies go to neighboring countries to work in Chinese-owned casinos or as prostitutes.
