13 years of Conservative defence cuts have left us with a tank force of 220 from which only 148 are being upgraded to Challenger 3 by 2030, no wonder the Americans no longer consider us a Tier 1 military!

@1chish A few facts for you, I have stood for Parliament for the Referendum Party and served for 17 yrs in The British Army sounds like a typical "leftie"??? Fact- in 2010 we had a Conservative (so-called) PM and have done every yr since. Fact- in 2010 Labour spent 2.5% of GDP on defence, the Conservative only manage to hit 2% by "creative "accounting to put it politely. Fact- the Army at 725000 is smaller than it was at the time of Waterloo in 1815, the Navy has 19 major surface units and the RAF has just 6 frontline fighter squadrons. Fact- we have 2 weeks stocks of munitions if they were used at the rate of the Ukraine war. We need to spend at least 3% for the next 10yrs to rebuild and restock our forces to face current and future threats.

You sound like one of the 8000+ "equality & diversity" officer employed by the NHS, now that is a REALLY useful job, not something unimportant like defending your country.

@1chish GDP is a more accurate figure as it takes into account inflation and Labour were actually spending more which did surprise me when I found out. Let's face it they may call themselves "Conservative" but "Consocialist" is more appropriate! The Defence Review of 2010 was probably the most damaging on record and Cameron was fully behind that!

@danielross7983 Ahh right, so if Ukraine had told Russia not to invade because they didn't want them to that would have worked?

@danielross7983 Is that the same treaty where Russia guaranteed the territorial integrity of Ukraine in exchange for them giving up their nuclear weapons?? No, I thought not. Since when has Russia ever honoured a treaty as Poland, for example, knows to its cost!
